Social Skills Development Sessions
The Social Skills Development Sessions have been designed for individuals who may have social anxiety, low self-esteem, autism (ASD), ADHD or any other condition which may cause them to struggle in social settings.
These sessions offer a safe, non-judgemental environment in which individuals can interact with others (both people and animals), improving their communication skills, developing their self-awareness and growing their confidence.
Groups are kept small (2-4 participants) and the sessions are focused around horses.
For example, we may spend some time grooming one of the horses or talking them for a walk, learning how to read their body language and working out if they're feeling happy, relaxed, angry, scared or anxious. We would then discuss how these non-verbal cues may look on a person and the ways in which we could respond.
Being out in nature with animals, particularly horses, helps to ease social barriers, creating a beautiful, calm space for individuals to be themselves, without fear of judgement.
